Not Just a Copycat – “We are the World” Cover by Visayan Artists in Response to Typhoon Yolanda’s Aftermath

I was indifferent at the start.

This looks familiar, I said. Another cover, a mere copycat. Then, the rap in Waray began. It was soon interspersed, almost indistinctly, with Tagalog lyrics.  The Loboc Children’s Choir was then shown followed by Anderson Cooper’s words when he was defending himself and CNN’s coverage, praising the spirit of my kababayans in the process.

I was at the end of this rendition of a song from my childhood, almost in tears.
